Christmas is on it's way, and with it my need to prove that within the venn diagram of gifting there is absolutely a sweet spot to shop thoughtfully and cleverly under £30. Because while I appreciate gifting that favours only investment items, its not always possible to raise the spending bar that high. (Although it goes without saying we don't want our nearest and dearest to know that.) Enter THE EVERYTHING UNDER £30 BUDGET LUXE GIFT GUIDE. I have trawled far and wide to find excellent pieces with added meatiness, lots well below the £30 ceiling ( many allowing the option to doubling up gifts and still keep within budget) from a mix of independents, high street and designer sites. I was amazed at what I could squeeze under £30 ( Missoni bath towels and Jonathan Adler anyone?), although with this being 'black' weekend' please no blame if prices don't stay the same for the rest of the yuletide run up.
Actual footage of my Christmas prep. ( AKA Tim Walker for Vogue)
There are sections for her, him, kids and teens- but it's worth looking in every section (Who doesn't love a horseshoe ring, a stylish popcorn maker and affordable borg house booties. ) I'm off to buy most of this and add the rest to my family whatsapp . Happy shopping!
FOR HER
And by her yes I obviously mean me. This sums up everything i'd personally enjoy opening this Christmas morning and will assume the women in my life will concur. If I had to choose standouts the Abigail Ahern mushroom lamp is calling me and the cashmere hand warmers are a steal from John Lewis.
FOR HIM
As ever I vote to ignore extravagant tech/sports requests ( surely these require self gifting situation anyway) and go for thoughtful and bitesize. I assure you he will enjoy some luxe ( but budget!) accessories and his morning coffee in a drama queen mug. ( And if he doesnt there is surely a home for them...)
FOR TEENS
The 'teen' arena is admittedly of trecherous terrain; I'm aiming to pitch somewhere that hopefully pleases dome, and is reasonably gender neutral. The gist? A bit sporty, a bit techy, with some jewellery and skincare thrown in. I already have the Laura Gravestock horseshoe ring and those bargain luxe Sennheiser over ear headphones on my own wishlist.
FOR KIDS
And finally- i'm aiming at pre secondary age here ( after which everything turns into branded goods from Selfridges et al). Kids this age can still be persuaded into some clothes we actually like, and games not involving a playstation. ( Although we all know this is pushing it )
Thank you for reading! I hope this helps you as much as it has helped me kick my gifting research into gear. subscribe ( free!) for as often as i can fashion-ish updates.
